The year 2015 was full of great moments, like the release of the album Silentium, the presentation of new videos, significant concerts such as the one in Madrid at the Teatro Monumental or the participation in festivals, academies and Master Classes throughout Europe as IKMMA.
A special year filled with touching moments, which still kept one last big event. On New Year’s Eve, the New Palace of Stuttgart (Germany) dressed up to receive Conrado Moya in Marimba Quartett and the Goldberg Variations in a duet with Katarzyna Myćka.
The imposing Weisser Saal (White Hall) of the Palace became small that evening to accommodate more than 800 people who gathered in the double session of concerts of Marimba Quartett.
Katarzyna Myćka, Filip Mercep, Juan David Forero and Conrado Moya devoted themselves one and all to Richardson and Cagwin’s works and gave their most moving version of The Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns, accompanied by Jasmin Bachmann’s narration.
Marimba Quartett has already been touring a long list of concert halls in Germany over the last few years and the project will continue this 2016 and in 2017. During the first months of the year, they will be performing in German cities such as Reutlingen, Donaueschingen or Schwerte.
But undoubtedly, one of the most special moments of the evening was the duet of Katarzyna Myćka and Conrado Moya in the Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach. The aria and the first 11 variations -an exciting technical and interpretive challenge-, filled the hall with contrasts, warmth and energy, to which the audience responded with exceptional enthusiasm.
The Goldberg Variations, performed for the first time as a marimba duo, will continue their journey this year now in its full version -aria and 30 variations-. Some dates have already been confirmed in Bamberg (Germany), Alicante (Spain) and Schwerte (Germany).
We leave a video below recorded during the rehearsal of the Goldberg Variations (5, 4 and 8) at the New Palace of Stuttgart.
