Guinovart

Among the most emblematic works for symphonic band by the Catalan composer and pianist Albert Guinovart (b. 1962), the marimba concerto Tres paisatges pictòrics stands out, commissioned by Conrado Moya and performed by the soloist himself on this album. In each of its three movements, Guinovart evokes soundscapes inspired by celebrated paintings by Caspar David Friedrich, Giovanni Bellini, and Henri Rousseau, in which the virtuosity and expressive power of the marimba highlight the composer’s lyrical and intimate musical universe. The program is completed by the Sinfonía Gaudí and the fantasy Barcelona, all performed by the Barcelona Municipal Band under the baton of José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana.
